About Us

Girls in Global is a feminist, community-led organisation working to change how leadership in international affairs is imagined and practiced. We believe global governance should be shaped by care, inclusion, and accountability, not urgency or hierarchy.

Our work focuses on bringing gender-diverse voices into policy, diplomacy, and governance, while also challenging the systems that have historically excluded them. We don’t just want people to have a seat at the table—we ask whether the table was built for them in the first place, and if not, how we can build better ones together.

We aren’t trying to speak on behalf of communities. We’re learning how to step back and make space for their leadership, even when it challenges the ways we’ve been taught to “do the work.”

OUR MISSION

HOW WE WORK

Girls in Global exists to bring more feminist clarity, care, and accountability into the way global leadership is shaped. We are here to help communities imagine new ways of making decisions that reflect their lived realities, cultural contexts, and political priorities. We want the people affected by international policy to also shape it, and we believe feminist thinking gives us the clearest tools to do that. Our purpose is to support systems that are less about performance and more about real power-sharing, healing, and trust.

We imagine a world where international leadership begins with listening. Where power is shared, not just shifted. Where policies are built around dignity and consent, not just efficiency or scale.
Our vision is a world where people impacted by global decisions are not tokenised or consulted after the fact, but are central to defining what leadership and justice look like.
We believe leadership should be held lightly—with humility, curiosity, and care. And we believe governance should reflect the people it claims to serve.

Our mission is to rethink and rebuild global governance by grounding it in intersectional feminism, community participation, and practical accountability.
We want women and gender-diverse people to not only be present in decision-making spaces, but to have the power to shape the direction of those decisions. Through policy advocacy, regional hubs, political education, and strategic partnerships, we work to make global leadership more equitable, more local, and more deeply rooted in care.

At Girls in Global, how we do the work matters just as much as what we’re working on.

We take a values-first, relationship-based approach that prioritises depth over speed and care over control. Our regional hubs lead their own strategies and advocacy, grounded in local cultures and political realities. They’re not extensions of a central office—they are the heart of what we do.

A central part of our approach is building genuine partnerships across the Global North and Global South. At a time when regions are being pushed further apart—through rising nationalism, political polarisation, and donor-driven priorities that don’t always reflect the will of communities—we are committed to creating a different kind of collaboration.

We work against the grain of fragmentation. Our partnerships are not transactional or symbolic. They are built on shared power, mutual listening, and the understanding that every context holds insight. In this way, we bring in the power of the majority world and create new ways of looking at international affairs—ways that reflect the belief that the personal is political, and that feminism is not a theory but a practice.

We don’t work through strict hierarchies or rushed timelines. Instead, we build in space for reflection, discomfort, and change. We listen more than we speak. We welcome being challenged. And we know trust is built through consistency and presence, not just performance.

We’re still learning. We don’t claim to have it all figured out. But we’re committed to building structures that reflect the world we want to live in, not just the systems we’ve inherited.
